To Soothe the Savage Beast

Before I begin this post, I'd like to thank all who leave comments. And gerard v: there are some interesting kernels in there to think about. Thanks.

Now, I'd like to say a bit about one of the things that keeps me going sometimes. We all, I'm sure, have our own little internal soundtracks. You know, the music and the albums we call up and play in our heads to provide theme music.* I just want to share a few of the tunes that help keep me going and fight off the Beast, in no particular order:

This is not an exhaustive list, and I'm sure I've forgotten some that I'll readily remember the instant I've signed off. Anyway, these are playing constantly in my head ("I'm Free" is playing right now, and I've used "Faith of the Heart" to bludgeon the hell out of the Beast in the past week) and give me motivation. Why these particular ones? No real reason, I guess. I like them all, but sometimes it's the lyrics, or the beat, or just the fact that its music that sustains me.

*Of course, these days it's easier with an iPod or other portable MP3 player -- which I don't yet own. But you're not likely to get mugged for your brain. Yet. And a brain also doesn't require batteries. Yet.

**I'm told Rod Stewart did a version, too. I'd love to hear it.

Could I recommend a little Clay Aiken for your soundtrack? ;)
Keep on a singin'... sometimes it's the only thing that keeps me going.
I appreciate your heart.

I'm sorry you're in such a predicament right now, but I think it's interesting to read about homelessness from someone who knows what it's all about. I actually have a great interest in helping the homeless, although so far all I've been able to do is give food/$ to local guys in need. You're in my prayers.

Hello,
I want you to know that God knows your situation! In my darkest hour it was only Jesus who could comfort me and shine His light. I think HE would want me to tell you He loves you. Please say hello to your family. I think I will pass your blog around...
God Bless

Cybermancer,

I found your blog on digg.com. Anyway, this morning I say a site on digg that referenced person-to-person lending. I don't know if you'd be interested, but I thought I'd pass it on. Much easier than walking into a commerical bank, for sure.

I came in from dig.com.

I’m ashamed that I fret and feel depressed for academic and relation failures whereas look at you: At the age of 40 with three kids, you are brave to face your problem. You don’t complain about your situation or sit in a corner and cry or … whatever. You act. I admire you.

I’ll continue to read your blog and hope you’ll have a roof sooner. May be as you say, you’ll become a leader or something. Something good will transpire out of your current situation.

Good luck.

yep, looks like lots of Italian bloggers and readers are going to have you as a daily reading.. you're already in my list, not to mention my thoughts.

all the best

(I'm still standing is one of my "hang tough" songs, too..)
